I and my mother has always been discussing this
topic whenever we had a conversation regarding the society that which level of the class actually lives with absolute happiness comparatively. So, this article is
dedicated to my mom.
For safety reasons:
Disclaimer:
1. This is purely based on my experience and my
surroundings. This article is completely fictional and if any person name is taken it is irrelevant.
2. My intention is not to divide or compare the classes sarcastically or make fun of any class. It is just that I am trying
to figure out which class is better with happiness or is there a common factor
among them?
3. I am not trying to prove anyone that someone is wrong
or let down their field of vision. I respect everyone's perspective and have
only shared my perspective.
4. This article is based on the hypothesis.
Before I begin, anyone, asking, why did you choose this
topic?... Yeah! I will answer you. On Tuesday morning of 22 January 2019, I was
sitting on my sofa sipping a cup of tea and the conversation began with me and my mother who was washing vessels in the kitchen. I asked my mother " Maa, I want
a discourse to write in my blog. Suggest me some topic." Taking her couple
of seconds, the reply came "write about the topic we had discussed most
of the times...". But I didn't catch her words. Before I could utter a
word, the reply from my mom came as quick as lightning specifying "write
about happiness...Try figuring out in your article which levels of class
has more happiness in their life". Initially, I was sneaky about this
topic but later on, my mom convinced me by putting my mind at rest phrasing "Happiness
is that essential key, which people find and get off the track in their daily
lives". She paused for a second, Resuming, just think about it. As humans,
what and all we do for happiness. I just brought our discussion to an end by
signing off. I started soul-searching " What is there to write in
Happiness? Still today, No one has exactly able to find the key of it". I
hunted many sources from various references and ended up getting these various
points: -
- self-acceptance
- Forgiveness
- Thankfulness
- Faith
- Gratitude
- Focus on health
- Detoxification
- yoga
- Clean eating
- Self-improving
- and many more...
But, have a look at these points...These are the points
we try to follow for including happiness in our lives?!... I got
contradicted looking at these few points. Stay focused on health,
detoxification, clean eating points. I don't think so, these are the points
which make one happy because when we consider lower classes, that is, poor
class of our society, these points won't show up when considered. And when
happiness is taken under consideration, it should apply for all the humans no
matter where he/she belongs. But still, you can see the happiness in their
faces even after an entire day of work. So, what does this mean?... Moreover,
Me! Being from a middle class doesn't follow these focused points regularly.
And accordingly, most of the middle-class people I have met, had the same
mentality as I do. Now, you may interrupt me questioning " In surveying
with a few people, how can you jump to the conclusion?" All those folks,
please refer my Disclaimer. Moving on, let me put my justification to direct my
words in a simpler manner and I hope it will reach you in order.
Basically, we have three classes in our society. They
are divided into lower social class, middle class, and high class. And as you
know this division is made mainly based on income or wealth.
People's happiness does impact and changes with the level of
class? Let's analyze, how?
How lower social class people find their happiness?
• According to my survey, they are fearless about the future. As they are paid in daily wages, they are only concerned about today
and not tomorrow. What does this mean? They are not bothered about tomorrow?
And some of them won't even stress upon their children education, even if many
government schools are initiating various schemes for getting these children
for admission. This doesn't mean, all the people belonging to this category
have the same outlook. Most of the people who belong to this class doesn't have
proper accommodation for living, they sleep in roadside and do their labor
work for their daily wages. They use public washrooms for showering. This may
draw the conclusion that they are not conscious of people thinking. They are
least bothered of social status and only worries them is money. But most of
them efficient in money management. So, what am I indexing? I am able, to sum up, the things that, don’t give a FUCK what people think and say yes to present
tense. And happiness includes:
• smoking (beedi) and drinking.
• money
• food
How middle-class
people find their happiness?
- By watching comedy shows. One of my favorite shows is
"The Kapil Sharma Show".
- chilling out with friends.
- watching movies in the theatre
- smoking and drinking
- money
- food...etc
How higher-class
people find their happiness?
- Hanging out with friends
- smoking and drinking
- Throwing a party
- Disco, Pub
- money
- Drug addiction: Most of the teens belongs to this category
are a drug addict. The reasons are heartbreaking and heart whelming. Reasons
goes like this:
• As parents are busy in their
professional life, they somewhere fail to concentrate on their children
activities hence giving less time or no time for their kids. This is
predominantly true when it comes to star kids. They fail to know that kids need
love and nurture from their parents and not from the nurse or housekeeper.
• overcommitted to their work or the pressure to achieve the targeted deadlines.
• Any human being is found for
success. We all want to become successful and famous. Won't you? And once we
achieve that, money plays a significant role in our lives. There is a constant
threat about competitor and fear of losing henceforth neglecting the health
forgetting our wealth lies in our health.
• Moreover, even if the success is
accomplished but remaining in the same height requires great courage. Some
people may be unsuccessful at this stage and may fail in handling success.
• When there is no purpose in your
life. Yes, you heard it right. No... your ears have sent the right message to
your brain. What I have understood in my depression is basically, depression
occurs only for these two reasons, that is,
1. When you are overcommitted to something or someone.
2. When you have no purpose in life.
As people say. "An idle mind is a devil workshop". I hope this needs
no explanation.
In all the classes, we have a common object in
which people from all the classes run behind it. Exactly, money! And
why shouldn't they? This world is standing because of it, and the world is made
by people. So, money has been as important as oxygen for our lives and as it
purchases us our basic amenities for living to live a self-satisfied life. Any
foodies here😋...! Food is also the happiness for our stimulus hunger
satisfaction. Food also comes under money. No money-No food! This doesn't mean
money is everything. This depends on how we use it and how much we give
importance to it. I have seen many labors constructing a building. Some of
them really enjoy their work cracking jokes and resuming their work.
And on the B-side people with AC accommodations cursing
their work. And you may extend your finger questioning smoking and drinking are
also the common points. Yes! But we are discussing the happiness which is
permanent and which doesn't fade away with time.
I feel happiness has nothing to do with success,
self-improvement, gratitude.
Final statement:
As I tried to compare all the different classes, the outcome I drew is,
Happiness is being self-satisfied of what we are or what we become, as this the word fits each and every person.
Thank you so much
